*** September to December: Research-Creation Seminar on Medieval Music **
What do we actually mean when we talk about medieval music? What are we experiencing when we attend a medieval music concert?
February to May: Organizing and Curating a Medieval Music Festival
Synthesizing the knowledge, practical skills, interpersonal expertise, and competencies acquired by working on the organization and programming of a medieval music festival, as well as creating the associated performances and events.
*** March: Practicing Medieval Music in the Present Day **
Performance workshop culminating in a concert for the Early Music Day (EEMD).
Module open to non-students and accessible via videoconference.
*** May: Residency and Student Participatory Creation with a Guest Artist **
Creating and performing a participatory show with a guest artist, exploring new ways of showcasing and staging medieval music
Created in 2019, the ensemble-école is a pre-professional Participatory Research-Creation program focusing on medieval music, conceived by La Camera delle Lacrime and the Centre International de Musiques Médiévales. Built around an immersive, hands-on pedagogical approach, it provides a space to develop—both individually and as a group—the knowledge, practical skills, interpersonal expertise, and competencies required to lead a professional artistic project.
Combining stage practice with critical reflection on current creative challenges, the ensemble-école is neither a performance degree nor a course in artistic direction, stage directing, or playwrighting. Rather, it is a space for collective and individual experimentation, where each participant becomes a practitioner of research, an author of the creative gesture, and a mediator of a shared sensory experience with the audience. It is designed for anyone wishing to explore, invent, and question how medieval music can, still today, touch, resonate, transform, and be transmitted.
